New Zealand Teachers Bullied at School

I was told that it was not possible to measure teacher’s workloads and I agree its not. There is so much work outside of the classroom that can’t be quantified. But at the same time most of the workload can be measured the following table lists some of the teachers and that portion of teachers workloads that could be measured during 2009 at Logan park High School. I have not included the teachers names. But the full formula can be made available if there is interest. You will be able to see that clearly some teachers were severely overloaded. While others were nearly on permanent break. Ethical ?
Column 1 – Actual student contact hours per week
Column 2 – Normal hours of work per week
Column 3 – The actual hours of work allocated and divided by column 2 to identify weeks worked
Column 4 – Students actually taught
Column 5 – Part time indicator

I have added the first page. This is called “about” and is selectable to the left of this text. This area will expand as more pages are added detailing the bully history’s. Page titles will include the teachers bullied, the Ministry, the Minister and the PPTA etc. We will be examining these groups in detail and critiquing their actions or lack of. We will be using the “Official Information Act” to gather detail and deliver maximum accuracy and we will be naming the perpetrators of the bullying and exposing unethical actions. Tell as many people in education as can. This Should get very interesting

I have added a UK site to the blog roll you can click on it to your right on the screen. What is interesting here is the level of settlements and the familiar themes. Precedents set in the UK are relevant in NZ if you have a personal grievance with your education employer in NZ now you should pass this to your Lawyer otherwise it gives you something to read while I’m writing the history so far

This BLOG is about the bullying by senior management of a teacher at Logan Park High School (LPHS) in Dunedin. It’s a story of unethical and dishonest behaviour by both the BOT and management and the failure of the checks and balances of both the Ministry of Education and the PPTA.  This is by no means a unique or isolated incident but this story is different because the teacher didn’t accept their settlement offer because she wouldn’t sign a secrecy and indemnity clause in favour of the school. Over the next few days I will chronicle the events so far and hopefully offer some strength to others in a similar situation and perhaps some ideas for moving forward.
